Asia is with out a doubt the best place for cheap hotels some of our favorites are the Cafe California 2 on the riverfront in Phnom Penh Cambodia. We really enjoyed our stay in Saigon at the Dai Hoa Kim hotel which gave us great views of Saigon Vietnam.  In Sihanoukville the best is the Orchedee Guesthouse which is one of the best

cheap hotels in Asia in out opinion, and the Adobe Hotels is really the only option for the cheapest hotel in Cairns Australia.

What all of these really great asian cheap hotels have in common is that they go out of their way to deliver value. Cafe California offers great information on Cambodia, as well as a great riverfront location, with a nice breakfast included around $17USd a night, with air con, hot water, refrigerator ,cable tv. Orchedee guesthouse Sihanoukville Cambodia offers all of the above minus the breakfast but has a pool right around the same price.

 

We have been staying at Bangkok's Thai House inn in for 7 years now, and they always have helpful information, and will make phone calls, or write address or interpret for you as well as store your luggage for long periods of time, at no charge.

in Shanghai they saw that we were 2 people and wanted separate rooms, so they said our best hotel bet was to take a suite, this was cheaper than 2 rooms and they were all ready the very cheapest deal we could find.The hotel staff also walked me 3 blocks to the local laundry, and to the foreign exchange that would give us the best rates.
